『カイロの紫のバラ』のタイトル部分と、ラストにはフレッド・アステア歌う「チーク・トゥ・チーク」が流れる。アステアとジンジャー・ロジャース共演のRKOミュージカル映画『トップ・ハット』で使われた曲で、二人のダンス・シーンも映画ではちらりと流される。スクリーンから抜け出したトム・バクスターは元の世界に戻り、一緒の生活を約束していた俳優には裏切られ、また不実な夫とのやるせない日々に戻るしかないセシリア。しかし、つらい現実に戻る前の彼女にひとときの安らぎを与えてくれるのが、大好きな映画だった。スクリーンで華麗なダンスを踊るアステアとロジャースを食い入るように見つめる彼女。一心に見ていれば、彼らが再びバクスターのようにスクリーンから出てくるのではないか。彼女のそんな願いが伝わってくるかのような、せつなく胸につまるエンディングだった。
